When is the appropriate time to express gratitude to our Lord? Once in November for Thanksgiving? I guarantee you that we ALL fail at giving our Lord proper thanks for everything HE provides to us at any given moment.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. According to the Bible, we must be content with what HE is giving to each individual person.

Let us not become like the Israelites thinking God got them free from slavery not only were they far as coming close to being content and had the audacity to complain to HIM what HE was providing for food.

In the Lord’s Prayer and it states “give us this day our daily bread” directly from Luther’s Small catechism “Give us this day our daily bread. (Lord’s prayer)

That is: God gives daily bread indeed without our prayer even to the wicked; but we pray in this petition that He would help us to appreciate HIS benefits, that we may receive our daily bread with thanksgiving.

By daily bread is meant all those things which are needed for our support and well-being in life, as food and clothing, home and property, happy family relations, a good government, favorable weather, peace and health, faithful friends, good neighbors, and the like.” Let us never overlook the fact that HE is notorious in doing a lot with a little like feeding the 5,000 men, woman, and child and there was food left over after feeding everyone.

Let’s not forget that Thanksgiving has turned into I’m willing to do anything to get the best deal on the latest technology or items on sale before you even begin to say thank you Jesus, I was beyond blessed with ALL YOU have given us that are now worthless because we live in a disposable world and need to go to the store to buy the best of the best technology, or gadgets.

I’ve seen this in today’s devotional and thought this was fitting so please read it more carefully and more than once: God has every reason to condemn you, but out of HIS overwhelming love HE has chosen to call you HIS beloved child. Meditate on this life-changing truth and respond to HIS love with the offering of the life HE created, saved, provides for, and gives a single thought about each and every one of us. Let that sink in as well, as the Creator of the universe would know each person’s life’s issues, blessings, and gratitude.
