I’ll be good this time Mommy I promise, just give me a second chance….we all know how well that works out as parents. For those that are not parents, it’s more like just giving me a fourteenth chance. This all too often happens with David he sins multiple times and asks “the Lord to blot out his transgressions” (both great and small).

I often wonder if God gets tired of forgiving His children’s sins over and over again? Yes, we can be heartily sorry. Yes, He died for ALL our sins. There are reasons I’m not God.

I know we too get like David and sin and ask for forgiveness then do good for a bit and then return to doing displeasing things in God’s sight and our conscience knows it’s wrong we go ahead and do it anyway…then later ask God forgiveness. It doesn’t seem fair to God for what we put Him through to receive His forgiveness and continue sinning.

Thanks be to our God for being slow to anger and quick to forgive and not only does He forgive He forgets, He casts our sins as far as the east is to the west, as deep as the ocean.

My prayer is this: “Dear Lord, we know we have displeased You in words and actions. As we remember our sins and doubt and our purpose in life. We also have spoken words we should have not spoken when we should have kept quiet. Into Your loving arms we put all our cares and worries. Forgiveness is found in You for this we are eternally grateful, We look to You for peace, and to serve You better tomorrow. May You grant these requests according to Your good and gracious will Lord. Let Your will be done and not our own Lord for Your ways are higher than ours. We make these requests in Your Name, amen.
