On a trip traveling down the interstate there were flashing lights on the side of the road, and the first thought was a cop had someone pulled over for speeding, and the second thought it was as we got closer was a drug search but when we got even closer it was a friendly law officer helping a stranded family put a spare tire on the car. Immediately after realizing that my first two assumptions were completely wrong I felt guilty and realized that too many times we quickly judge people for the wrong reasons. I was wrong in judging the law enforcement officer and assuming the stranded people were being searched for drugs.

Why do we assume the negative first? Look at Jesus when He was being judged for eating and hanging out with the (what He referred to as the “sick” people) His intentions were pure He was correcting them and showing them the right way to live or even just to perform miracles like healing the blind or casting out demons. Yet He was accused of doing wrong, and even His authority was judged.

Dear Lord, let us seek to see the good first in ALL PEOPLE, and leave the negative for You to judge. None of us are perfect we all are sinners and need Your undeserved grace and forgiveness. We love You, Lord, teach us to love our neighbors like You love us, and see us how You see us. I make these requests in Your Name, Amen
